About Kelly & Shepherd

Kelly & ShepherdKelly & Shepherd is a medium sized civil contractor based in Penrith, in Sydney's western suburbs.

In 1999 Brett Kelly and Colin Shepherd merged their businesses and combined a total of 35 years' experience servicing the quarrying and civil construction sectors.

Today Kelly & Shepherd has developed considerable expertise in key market sectors of civil construction, quarrying and mining including:

Brett Kelly & Col ShepherdOur major works are at the Penrith Lakes scheme, a 2,000 hectare site in Sydney's western suburbs supplying about 65% of Sydney's sand, aggregate and other quarry products, with a production of around 5 million tonnes of material a year.

We have ongoing contracts with the Penrith Lakes Development Corporation (PLDC), a joint venture between the major quarrying companies Boral, Readymix and Hansen, which operates Sydney's largest quarry at the Penrith Lakes scheme.

Kelly & Shepherd runs a modern, well-maintained fleet of earthmoving equipment, capable of carrying out a wide range of projects, from small civil works and minor subdivisions, to complete "turnkey" subdivision and earthworks projects.

Our fleet includes graders, scrapers and dozers (with GPS-based machine control systems), articulated and rigid frame dump trucks (to 85 tonnes), excavators (5-110 tonnes) and specialised compaction equipment.

We pride ourselves on taking an innovative approach to all aspects of our work, and are willing to adopt new technology in order to give our clients and ourselves an additional edge.

For example, we pioneered the use of GPS-based machine control systems on our earthmoving equipment in NSW, adopting this technology in 2001 - well before other contractors in NSW.

We are continuing this focus on innovation, with the on-going development of other unique products and services to benefit our projects, and those of our clients.

Above all, we have a tradition of openness and straight dealing with all parties that we engage with: clients, consultants, local government, fellow contractors, subcontractors and the community.

We seek to develop honest, open relationships to the benefit of all parties because we believe this is the best way to ensure that we will be invited to tender for future work.
